I wanted to do something with English, but I found the thought of studying just English quite boring. At first, I couldn't find anything that really suited me. But then I came across the Bachelor's degree in Communication (English Stream) at Inholland, and I was immediately sold. The promotional side of this course really appealed to me. And if you want to work in an international environment later on then you have much more chance with a degree in English. And that is exactly my intention. Together with a classmate, I want to start a PR agency abroad that promotes performers. Now I am busy finding somewhere to live and do my work experience in London.
Getting used to things
When I went to the Open Evening, I didn't know that Inholland also provided international courses. This course seemed just perfect to me. It was explained very well to me and I really felt at ease. I made my choice that evening and I have never had a moment's regret since. The Communication English Stream is a miniature school in itself. Very small and cosy and with a wonderful atmosphere. The organisation is also great. Even so, I found the first week hard. I was a little unsure since I wasn't used to speaking English all day. But I quickly felt at home. My class is also very pleasant and international. In addition, the first year was good to do. If you are motivated, then of course that makes things much easier.
Creative, social and educational
The course is very broad. There's so much to say about it, but if I have to summarise it in just a few words: it is creative, social and educational. You learn not just about the advertising world but also about yourself. If you are good at English and you love organising, communicating and design then you'll do really well here. I would like to advise potential students to come along to the Open Day. Speak as much as you can with the other students because they give the best explanation of all the 'ins and outs' of each course. It's also important that a university gives you a good feeling because you're going to be there every day for four years. Finally, a tip: don't expect too much at the start of your course. Take it easy and let everything flow from you. You'll then find the right balance.
