When you are a foreign student who would like to be admitted to a bachelor's or master's degree programme at INHolland University of Applied Sciences in The Netherlands a number of language and educational qualifications are required.
Please note: With late applications we cannot guarantee that the diploma validation will be in time to start your course. Keep in mind that a foreign diploma validation could take up to 4 weeks time.
English
The most essential requirement for foreign students wishing to enter a Dutch institution of higher education is that they are able to understand, speak, read and write English at a good level.
If you are not from an English speaking country such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, you need an IELTS certificate (academic level) with an overall score of 6 for writing, reading, listening and speaking. You can also enter Dutch higher education with a TOEFL certificate.This TOEFL certificate is preferably a TOEFL iBt 79 (Internet Based Test) with an minimum overall score of 79 on reading, writing, listening and speaking. Because it is not yet possible to take this type of test in every country of the world, we also accept a TOEFL550 (Paper Based Test with an overall score of 550), TOEFL213 (Computer Based Test with an overall score of 213) in 2006.

Or you can enter with a Cambridge Certificate. Either the Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) is accepted. Please check the Cambridge website www.cambridgeesol.org
A Chinese student can enter with an IELTS certificate 6.0 overall score or a TOEFL iBt 79 (Internet Based Test) with an minimum total score of 79 on reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Dutch
There is an extra requirement for foreign students who would like to do a degree in Dutch at INHolland University of Applied Sciences. They need to have passed a national examination called: Staatsexamen NT2-II, level B2 (former level 4) as proof of their Dutch language skills (see also the Expertisecentrum).
However, INHolland also offers a Dutch Language and Transition Year preparing foreign students to successfully participate in Dutch higher education. Statistics show that students who have completed the Language and Transition Year tend to obtain their higher education degree faster and with better grades. Please click here for more information.
Students from Surinam or the Dutch Antilles with a MBO level 4 diploma can only enter a course if the level of the Dutch language is equivalent to:

Please note:These language certificates (English & Dutch) are valid for two years. Exemptions will be judged by the admissions office.

Secondary Education
A secondary school diploma and final grade list is required for entering a bachelor's degree programme. When you have a diploma and final transcript in the English, German, French or Spanish language, you need to send a copy of your diploma and transcript INHolland University. If your diploma is written in another language you will also need to enclose a certified translation (in English, French, German or Spanish) of your diploma and transcript.
Please note that your foreign diploma will be evaluated to check if you have the required level to enter the degree programme of your choice. Furthermore, you need to show your original diploma and transcript to our Student Administration on arrival. Please note that the evaluation could take some time, therefore it is important to send in your application with the required documents as soon as possible.You cannot enroll without a secondary school diploma or higher. In that case you might be able to enrol by taking an entrance examination (21+ test). Please check the conditions of the 21+ test. Please note that you actually have to be in the Netherlands to take this test.
For a master's degree programme, an undergraduate diploma or bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. Some professionally oriented programmes may have special requirements, such as related working experience.
