How do we deal with interculturalism in education? How can different backgrounds be a challenge? How do we prepare students for a career and life in a multicultural society?
In the Randstad area of the Netherlands, the student population in higher education is composed of various cultures. However, these differences between students should not form a hindrance to their personal development and the development of their talent. Within higher education, we are obliged to learn to deal with the practical obstacles that diversity brings with it. To recognise these differences and utilise them in a positive way. Our knowledge economy profits from these huge differences in quality, skills and knowledge of people.
Diversity is a commitment and challenge for higher education. That is why Inholland University of Applied Sciences and VU University Amsterdam, are organising a conference on diversity in higher education. It is due to take place on Monday, March 22nd and Tuesday, March 23rd 2010
