English
The most essential requirement for foreign students wishing to enter a Dutch institution of higher education is that they are able to understand, speak, read and write English at a good level.
If you are not from an English speaking country such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, you need an IELTS certificate with an overall score of 6 for writing, reading, listening and speaking. The IELTS certificate is compulsory for Chinese students. For more information on IELTS, please visit the website.
You can also enter Dutch higher education with a TOEFL certificate (except for Chinese students who need an IELTS certificate). This TOEFL certificate is preferably a TOEFL iBt 80 (Internet Based Test) with an overall score of 80 on reading, writing, listening and speaking. Because it is not yet possible to take this type of test in every country of the world, we also accept a TOEFL550 (Paper Based Test with an overall score of 550), TOEFL213 (Computer Based Test with an overall score of 213) in 2006.
For more information on TOEFL, please visit the website. Or you can enter with a Cambridge Certificate. Either the Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) is accepted. Please check the Cambridge website.
Secondary Education
A secondary school diploma and final grade list is required for entering a bachelor's degree programme. When you have a diploma and final transcript in the English, German, French or Spanish language, you need to send a copy of your diploma and transcript along with your application form to Inholland University. If your diploma is written in another language you will also need to enclose a certified translation (in English, French, German or Spanish) of your diploma and transcript.
Please note that your foreign diploma will be evaluated to check if you have the required level to enter the degree programme of your choice. Furthermore, you need to show your original diploma and transcript to our Student Administration on arrival. Please note that the evaluation could take some time, therefore it is important to send in your application with the required documents as soon as possible.
A foreign degree
Under the Dutch Higher Education Act, you can enrol for a bachelor's degree programme if your high school education is comparable to that of the Dutch secondary education or the international baccalaureate. The Netherlands University Foundation for International Co-operation (NUFFIC) has drawn up a list of international diplomas and certificates that meet these criteria. NUFFIC will validate your diploma, which may take between five and eight weeks. Inholland will then evaluate your diploma and grades to ensure they meet the programme's admission requirements.
Admissions quota
The Media & Entertainment Management program at INHOLLAND University is subject to an admissions quota. This has been introduced in order to ensure that the course program on offer is of a high quality, thereby ensuring that appropriate positions will be available for the programs students after graduation. The International Music Management program is only available in Haarlem. This program falls under the admissions quota for the full-time program. You will only be included in the selection procedure if your application form has been received by the DUO/IB-group and INHOLLAND University before 15 May 2010 (selection not based on criterea but at random). See how to enrol for more information or contact the Course Information Desk to get the INHOLLAND application form, International@Inholland.nl or Phone: +31 (0) 23 - 522 32 75 (local charges apply). For the DUO/IB-group application you can use Studielink.
Exemptions
If you have completed similar course work or have relevant experience, you may be granted a course exemption. Once you have enrolled, the Examinations Board will discuss prior coursework and experience.
Studying abroad
Inholland University gives you the wonderful opportunity to go international. Not only you are part of a multicultural classroom, you also have the opportunity to spend a part of your programme abroad. Internships or studying in another country is not only good for your personal and professional development, it also looks impressive on your curriculum vitae.
Depending upon eligibility, it may also be possible to do part of your degree at one of our partner universities within the European Union as part of the Erasmus/Socrates exchange programme. If this is the case, then you will receive financial support while attending a suitable educational programme abroad.
Our International Office is there to help you with all aspects of spending time abroad, such as insurance, living accommodation, finances, visas, and work permits. It is also up-to-date with available subsidy programmes, and it assists you in applying for them. Finally, the International Office can also put you in touch with students who have already studied abroad.

Switching programmes
It is important to find out early whether you have chosen the right programme or not. That's why you will take part in an assessment activity in the initial stages of the first semester.
Your weak and strong points will be assessed to see if you should continue following this particular programme. Your personal qualities will also be assessed to see if they need to be developed. These qualities are crucial for both your degree and your future career.
All this will help make sure that you have chosen the right programme. If you decide the programme is not for you, it may be possible to transfer to another one. Unfortunately, this is not so easy with English Stream courses, especially for foreign students. Dutch speaking students have more opportunities as they can transfer to courses taught in Dutch. If you wish to switch programmes, a student counsellor will help and advise you, and discuss with you the options available.
Gaining access to new programmes
After completing the international stream of Media & Entertainment Management programme you can, of course, start working, but you can also apply for master's programmes in the Netherlands and abroad.
