Travel documents


When you are planning to come to the Netherlands and study at Inholland University of Applied Sciences as a foreign student the following travel documents are required:


You are required to have a valid passport or Identity Card (when living in the European Union). The date of expiry must be at least one month after your departure from the Netherlands.


Nationals from the following countries are not required to have a visa:
Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, Iceland, Vatican City, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and Switzerland.

Nationals from other countries do need a visa to enter The Netherlands. Inholland University of Applied Sciences offers a short procedure for applying for visa.

Inholland can apply for a visa for Inholland students. This visa is also called MVV. MVV stands for Machtiging tot Voorlopig Verblijf (Temporary Residence Permit). It is a travel document that you need to enter The Netherlands and with this MVV you can apply for a residence permit after your arrival in The Netherlands. The residence permit will be issued based on the fact that you are registered as a full time student at a Dutch institution of higher education. The application for the residence permit, which is valid for one year, costs: 
€ 300 * (fee for the visa / mvv) 
€ 300 * (first application for a residence permit) 
€ 150 * (extension of the residence permit, you need to do this every year)
