Corona measures - situation remains the same but we do look ahead

Computer

We are pausing; unfortunately there is no relaxation of measures possible for the higher education sector yet. We heard this last night during the press conference. This means that all provided education will almost entirely be online until at least 26 April, with the exception for practical classes and scheduled exams on campus. This is a different perspective then we had hoped for. Nevertheless, the cabinet is showing its ambition to further open up on-campus education potentially from 26 April onwards by making use of self-test kits – once the transmission rate drops and allows us to look ahead.

The use of self-tests
During the press conference outgoing minister De Jonge already mentioned it should be possible again from 26 April onwards to provide on-campus education one day per week. Rapid tests and self-tests could contribute to facilitate this. However the use of self-testing does raise some questions and has some points for attention. We look into this together with other higher education institutions.

Both negative travel advice and curfew extended
The negative travel advice abroad is extended until 15 May. The curfew is extended until at least 20 April. Though the curfew will start one hour later from 31 March onwards, at 10 pm instead of 9 pm. In case you have an exam or practical classes in the evening meaning you’ll be out after 10 pm, then you do require an ‘Individual Curfew Statement’ and documentary evidence of your exam.

You can find more information about the corona measures via Knowledge Base on Iris.

Prospects
Summer time will start this weekend, the sunny spring weather announces itself. The fact we can go out more often, is something to look forward to. Keep your head up! Are you struggling with that at times? Find a listening ear and talk with your fellow student, your study programme, study counsellor, coach, a dean or a student buddy of the Student Success Centre. You can also choose to chat with a student buddy anonymously via the digital platform ‘Frisse Gedachtes’.
