Corona measures Monday 14 December

Curriculum almost entirely online, with the exception of practical classes and exams

Over the past days there were already plenty of speculation, and last night stricter measures were indeed announced which will also impact our education.

From Wednesday December 16 until Sunday January 17, our curriculum will almost entirely switch to online. It was certainly not the kind of news we hoped to receive just before the start of the Christmas holidays, but clearly for a good cause.

Exceptions
Exceptions are made for practical classes and exams. These do take place on-campus as scheduled. Your study program will inform you what this exactly means for you. For internships, the same rules apply as to the sector or branch in which your internship takes place. If the activities of the sector continue, the internship can also continue.

Adjusted opening hours
During the holidays - Friday 25 December until Friday 1 January - our buildings are closed. On all other days, the buildings are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for practical classes and exams. For these purposes the commute to and from our buildings is considered as a necessary travel and is therefore permitted. For all other instances, the same rule applies: study at home. If you really cannot study at home, you can visit the buildings to use the facilities. However, we do not encourage this. If you do come to the university buildings, please abide to the rules that apply in the buildings. Opening hours may change due to scheduled exams and practical classes.

We realize that this sudden and quick switch back to online education demands a lot of you and of your fellow students’ flexibility and adaptability, in a year in which we have already asked a lot from you. We know how difficult it must be. In case you need help or if you get stuck, please do not hesitate and contact your study program, study career counselor, coach or dean. Take a look at the Student Success Centre for tips and online training.

We share concerns about the consequences the measures will have on your study experience. We are proud of your creativity and resilience in these corona times. Hold on! And please think about your health, take care of yourself and each other.

More information about the corona measures can be found in the Knowledge base on Iris.
