Inholland postpones binding study recommendation due to coronavirus

HOP

Inholland University of Applied Sciences responds to the call of the Ministry of Education to postpone the negative binding study recommendation until the next academic year. Inholland, like all other Universities of Applied Sciences, postpones giving the negative binding study recommendation until the end of the academic year 2020/2021. Jet de Ranitz, President of the Executive Board of Inholland: “the Teaching and Examination Regulations (OER) gives us the scope to do so, and exceptional circumstances make it necessary. Inholland is pleased to see that the Ministry of Education supports this approach. With this measure, we can support students who may sustain a study delay due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

“It is nice to be able to give our first-year students some space with this measure, and to take away some of the possible stress related to the binding study recommendation,” as stated by Jet de Ranitz. “This crisis affects everybody within our University of Applied Sciences. We do our utmost best to continue our work through online channels, but this is not possible for everything. We are exploring all possible difficulties that students may face in this crisis. This also applies for senior students. We have started finding solutions and we will continue to do so. This measure is a good first step.”

Apart from postponing the negative binding study recommendation, is was also agreed that the final registration date for a degree program at Universities of Applied Sciences will be moved from May 1st to June 1st 2020. This gives final examination candidates more time to make their choice for a degree program. De Ranitz: “We will inform prospective students who have already shown interest for Inholland of this measure. For them, we will make available digital alternatives to activities for the Study Check.”

We will communicate what this means for our students concretely in the beginning of next week.
