The results of the National Student Survey (NSE) 2021 were released this morning. They show that you and your fellow students rated us 3.5 out of 5 on the question ‘How satisfied are you with your education in general?’ ‘Over the past year, the coronavirus pandemic has had an impact on education that not everyone has experienced positively. With that in mind, we are pleased with these results’, says Bart Combee, Chairman of the Executive Board of Inholland University of Applied Sciences.

Students feel at home

Despite the pandemic, the NSE 2021 suggests our students are positive about the atmosphere (3.9) and they feel at home (3.8) at Inholland. "We take this as a sign that the additional efforts are noticed, made by our teaching staff and other colleagues during the pandemic. What is more, we are proud of how imaginative and solution-oriented our students have been in dealing with all the extra challenges presented by the virus over the past year", says Combee.

Students also say that they feel safe to be themselves at Inholland (4.1). Another aspect students rated positively is the level and content of their courses (3.7). And on the teaching staff students said that they have a lot of knowledge about professional practice (3.9) and the subject matter (3.9) they teach.

Points for attention
"We also see some points for attention, such as when it comes to the provision of information (3.2)", says Combee. "Students indicate that they miss being able to drop in on the lecturer with a question. The results of the NSE also shows that our right priorities are to make education more contextual (2.9) and to increase the opportunities for students to create their own learning path (3.0)."

Combee: ‘The pandemic has made the past year unique. We excel when it comes to keeping things personal and close to home, and we want to keep it that way. The NSE results and the lessons learned over the past year will be used to enhance our education. And, of course, we would like to thank all the students for their input and feedback’.

The National Student Survey 2021 was commissioned by the Ministry of Education. A total of 330,000 students in higher education completed the survey.
