Week of the International Student: 16 - 21 November
'Changing times, connecting worlds'
The Week of the International Student is an initiative of Nuffic, the Dutch organization for internationalization in education. Every year, it is celebrated around the Day of the International Student, November 17th. This year, the week will take place from 16-21 November. Throughout the whole country, Universities (of Applied Sciences) in collaboration with Nuffic, organize (online) events to put the spotlight on internationally oriented students in the Netherlands.
Online activities during the Week of the International Student at Inholland
A bunch of activities are organized for you during the week of the international student. Our Study Success Centres (SSC) and our Erasmus Student Network (ESN) partners have planned online activities for our internationally oriented students from all Inholland locations. Monday 16 November
19:00 – 21:00 Workshop ‘How to overcome stress and stay focused in times of a pandemic? (by SSC Diemen)
Are you studying at home due to the corona measures and are you having a hard time staying focused? Is stress taking over and is your concentration nowhere to be found? Join the online workshop on how to overcome stress and how to remain focused. You can sign up via this form (Sunday 15 November at the latest).
Tuesday 17 November
16:00 – 17:00 Webinar: How to start/continue your career in these changing times? (by Nuffic)
How does Covid-19 affect your career, and how can you use it to your advantage? How can you use your international (study) experience and your intercultural competences to your advantage in finding a job? Nuffic will discuss this during an online webinar with the Holland Career Ambassadors and talk about these and more questions. Follow this link for more information and to sign up.
17:00 – 18:00 Crazy 48 challenge (by ESN Haarlem)
Would you dare to bark at strangers? Crazy 48 is the game of COVID-19 free but fun challenges that you will have to complete in international teams with limited time. Remember, creativity is plus points…. Let’s see who’s gonna be the dream team! Tune in via this link (no sign up needed).
Wednesday 18 November
19:00 – 20:00 Online cooking (by ESN The Hague)
During this activity, students from various cultures will show you how they cook a typical meal. While cooking, the students will tell you about their countries’ cuisine, as well as other aspects of their cultures. In the meantime you will have the opportunity to ask them any question you may have. You can sign up via this form.
Thursday 19 November
11:00 – 12:00 Training ‘How to survive The Netherlands’ (by SSC Haarlem)
Moving abroad in the 21st century seems easy, but is it…? And what about the starring element of 2020 due to Covid-19? Join this training to have a fun chat about what it really means to live abroad, to be fully immersed in a cross-cultural context and particularly in the fantastic (or not) small world of the Netherlands. 17:30 – 18:30 Talk show & quiz (by Nuffic in cooperation with University of Twente)
In this online talk show and quiz you will learn more about the experiences of 3 international students from Brazil, India and Germany. They will also discuss topics such as virtual mobility, diversity and sustainability. Follow this link to sign up.
19:00 – 20:00 Scribble game (by ESN The Hague)
Tonight it’s time to play a game! In an international team you will play Scribble, a game where you have to draw random words for your teammates. It’s up to them to guess the right word. Who is the best illustrator and who guesses the most words? Sign up via this link.
Friday 20 November
17:00 – 18:30 Pubquiz with Dutch theme (by ESN Diemen)
So, you’ve been living in the Netherlands for quite some time now. Whether it be 2 months or 2 years, we’re going to put your knowledge to the test! Think you know which cheese is the most popular in the Netherlands, or which Dutch singer has been streamed the most?
