The Hague introduces an official GP for students

The Hague is the newest and fastest-growing place to study in the Netherlands. There are nearly 31,000 full-time students in the city, of whom around 6,500 are international students. To meet the specific needs of students even better, an official student general practitioner is now available in The Hague. Dutch as well as international students can come here to share concerns about and problems with their health. As the GPs speak both Dutch and English, proper student care will become accessible and clear.

Age and lifestyle
Student en Stad, a collaboration between all higher education institutions and the municipality of The Hague, went looking for an official student GP in The Hague. It eventually settled on general practice De Doc, which has two locations in The Hague city centre and which will now provide a service called StudentDoc. The option to register with the student GP in The Hague will be suggested to new students during the introductory days. Other services by the GP include information sessions at educational institutions as well as collaboration with student counsellors and student psychologists to provide students with even better health care. It goes without saying that students are always free to register with other GPs in The Hague.

One stop for proper care
In addition to its general practice, StudentDoc also focuses on issues related to staying healthy in student life, stress, contraception, STDs and smoking cessation.
