Rent a room in Amsterdam
If you are an exchange student, you may rent a room provided by Inholland at the Echtenstein apartment building for a semester or an entire academic year.
For 2023-2024, the fixed rental dates are:
Fall semester: 28 August 2023 - 26 January 2024.
Spring semester: 31 January 2024 - 8 July 2024.
Full year: 28 August 2023 - 8 July 2024.
When you apply for a room via Inholland, you commit to paying the rent for a minimum of 1 semester. It is not possible to cancel the tenancy agreement before the end date of the contract.
The online application form for accommodation for the Spring semester will be open on 15 November 2023 at 9AM CET. As an exchange student, you will be notified about this by email as well. Deadline for application is 1 December 2023 at 9AM CET. Please mind: first come first served!

What happens after my application?
Within two weeks after your application, you will receive login details for the ROOM.nl portal. In this portal you can see the available rooms, including pictures and other information you need. You have two days to choose a room. If you wait longer, your booking period will expire and you will no longer have the chance to book a room.
Be prepared to take actions when you receive emails and make sure you have the money for the first payment ready.
In Echtenstein, you have your own bedroom in a four-room apartment. The living room, kitchen, bathroom and toilet are shared. All rooms are furnished.
Size of the room and rent
The rent includes electricity, gas, heating, water, internet and TV cable connection. The administration fee, cleaning costs, kitchen package, bed linen and local taxes are not included.
The rooms are fully furnished with bed, mattress, blanket, pillow, curtains, desk, chair, lamps, armchair and wardrobe. In the kitchen is a table with chairs, two fridges, microwave and TV. Please note that the standard internet is available through a LAN cable, but there is no WiFi. If you want to use the LAN connection on your laptop, make sure you bring your own cable. All apartments are accessible with an elevator.
Echtenstein is at ten minutes walking distance from metro station Verrijn Stuartweg, metro/train station Diemen Zuid and at ten minutes cycling distance from metro/train station Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena. Using public transport, you access the centre of Amsterdam (Central Station) within fifteen minutes.
Echtenstein is a ten-minute bike ride away from the Amsterdamse Poort shopping centre. It offers a huge variety of stores: from small boutiques up to well-known department stores and large supermarkets. In Amsterdamse Poort you can go for your daily shopping, but also try the diverse restaurants and unique products from local entrepreneurs. The big furniture store IKEA is also nearby Echtenstein. The largest cinema complex in the country, Pathé Arena, is in the same area. Next door you will also find the largest concert halls, AFAS Live and Ziggo Dome.
