Inholland has a limited amount of furnished rooms available for new first year international students (including students from Surinam and the Caribbean).
Please note: the rooms are allocated on a first come first serve basis, so we recommend you to apply as soon as possible. We can't guarantee a room for every student.

How to apply
New students (February 2027 intake)
You can book accommodation in Haarlem even while your application for the study programme is still being processed. However, to receive the keys to your studio at the start of your rental contract, you must have completed your admission requirements by 15 January 2027 at the latest. This means:
- Your (foreign) diploma has been validated by the Admissions Office.
- Your proof of English proficiency has been verified by the Admissions Office (if applicable).
If you don't meet the admission requirements by the given deadline, your rental contract will unfortunately be cancelled.
The application period for accommodation for the February 2027 intake opens on 15 November 2026 at 9:00 AM CET.
As the number of available accommodations is limited, housing is allocated on a first come first served basis. Applicants who are not offered housing during the initial allocation will automatically be placed on the waiting list. Should any accommodation become available at a later stage, students on the waiting list may be contacted and offered housing.
Please note: Being eligible to apply for accommodation does not guarantee that housing can be offered.

Current Inholland students
- Priority is given to exchange students and first-year bachelor's students, so you may be placed on a waiting list.
- Due to legal regulations, there has to be a minimum of 1 semester between two DUWO contracts. So if you are currently renting a DUWO room, you are not eligible for a room in this round. You can apply again from 15 May 2027 onwards, for a contract starting in August 2027.
Students starting in September 2027
You can apply for housing starting from 15 May 2027.
What happens after I am selected?
- Access the ROOM.nl portal
Within a few days after the application period opens, you will receive login details for the ROOM.nl portal. In this portal, you can view the available accommodations, including photos and important information. - Select your accommodation
You will have two days to choose your accommodation. If you do not make a selection within this period, your booking opportunity will expire and you will no longer be able to reserve accommodation. - Upload your documents
After selecting your accommodation, you will receive instructions from DUWO to upload the necessary documents in the DUWO portal. Do so within three days after selecting your accommodation. - Make your payment
DUWO will also send you instructions on how to arrange the initial payment. - Sign your contract
Finally, you will be asked to digitally sign your contract in the DUWO portal. Once the contract is signed, your booking is confirmed.
You need to pay and sign your contract within two weeks after DUWO has approved your documents. If you do not meet the deadline, your reservation will be cancelled. Be prepared to take action when you receive emails, and ensure you have the money ready for the first payment.
Rental dates for academic year 2026/2027
- September 2026 intake: 17 August 2026 - 30 July 2027
- February 2027 intake: 26 January 2027 - 21 January 2028
Please keep in mind that it is not possible to extend the rental contract after the end-date mentioned above. Rental contracts are limited to a maximum of two semesters. After the contract ends, a waiting period of one semester is required before a new contract can be arranged.
The rooms
The rooms
At Schoonzichtlaan, you can rent a single room or a shared bedroom. Each bedroom has a private bathroom with a toilet, while the kitchen and living room are shared. The apartment has 6 or 8 rooms.
The apartment includes shared facilities such as a communal kitchen and living room with TV, as well as a lift, laundry area (2 washing machines and 2 dryers), bicycle storage, and a roof terrace.
A few key points:
- Apartments are usually mixed-gender
- Shared bedrooms are always single-gender (male or female only)

Room sizes and rent (2026-2027)
The size of the rooms ranges between 24 and 30 m². The rent varies by room type, but always includes gas, water, electricity, TV, and Wi-Fi. The administration fee, local taxes, cleaning costs and bed linen are not included.
- A single room (own bedroom and bathroom, with shared kitchen): €577 to €623 per month.
- A shared room (shared bedroom and bathroom, with shared kitchen): €413 to €418 per month per person (maximum 2 persons per bedroom).

Location
Schoonzichtlaan is a modern student residence located right next to the Inholland campus, with excellent connections to public transport, shops, and leisure areas.
- 5-minute walk to Overveen train station and nearby shops, including a supermarket
- About 15 minutes by bicycle to Haarlem city centre
- Bus stop around the corner with a direct connection to Haarlem city centre (approx. 10 minutes)
- About 20 minutes by bicycle to the nearest beach: Bloemendaal aan Zee

First payment
First payment: Rent, deposit and other costs
Your first payment consists of the following components:
1. Rent and deposit
- First month's rent (26-31 January 2027)
- Second month's rent (February 2027)
- Deposit: last two months' rent (December 2027 and January 2028)
2. Welcome package + fees (mandatory)
- Duvet and sheet package (a new pillow, a new duvet and new sheets): €55
- Administration fee: €17,01
- Cleaning costs: €112,35
Important notes
To complete your booking, you will need to pay the amounts stated above. Please ensure you are ready to make this payment when you begin the room booking process. If you do not meet the deadlines, your reservation will be cancelled. DUWO will provide further details on the available payment options.
In case you decide to withdraw from the study programme before the start of the semester, you will still have to pay the first month rent + administration costs.
We have only a very limited amount of accommodation available. Please check our website for alternative housing options. We strongly recommend that you also start looking for accommodation yourself, using the websites and tips listed on our housing page, even if you have applied for accommodation through Inholland.
After your first year
After your first year
You can only book accommodation through Inholland with DUWO for one year maximum. That means that you will have to find your own accommodation after the first year.
A lot of student accommodations in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, Delft and Haarlem are listed on ROOM.nl. We recommend you to register there as soon as possible (even before coming to the Netherlands), as you will build waiting time from the moment of registration. This gives you a higher chance to be eligible for accommodation. You pay a one-time registration fee of €35.
