Jet de Ranitz leaves Inholland to join SURF

Jet de Ranitz will be stepping down as chair of the Inholland University of Applied Sciences Executive Board to take up a new position at SURF on 1 May 2020. As chair of the SURF Executive Board, Jet will also be serving as the organisation's managing director and CEO. “Although I'll really miss Inholland, I didn't want to pass up on this challenge. I'm extremely proud of what we've achieved at Inholland over the past few years", said Jet de Ranitz about her departure.

Jet de Ranitz has served as chair of the Inholland Executive Board since 2014. Jet: "I have mixed feelings about leaving Inholland: while it was my own decision, it's hard to say goodbye to this wonderful institution and my many colleagues and students. At the same time, I feel I'm leaving the place in good condition: Inholland is doing well, thanks to our shared efforts over the past few years. Learning is all about having the courage to let go and to change, and that's exactly what I'm doing now. We have also found a capable replacement for Marcel Nollen in Mieke van den Berg, which gives me an even greater sense of confidence. I'll be staying on until 1 May to help her get off to a good start with the help of Huug de Deugd."

Digitalisation of the research and education agenda
As part of her duties on the Executive Board, Jet has been responsible for strategy, strategic communication, external representation, representative advisory bodies, safety policy, diversity and governance issues. "Our efforts to fast-track the Netherlands' digital transformation are underpinned by a challenging and urgent research and education agenda. I was closely involved in the process during my time at Inholland, and will be working to realise this ambition at SURF", Jet Ranitz explains. SURF is an alliance of Dutch education and research institutions that facilitates ICT-based education and research, ranging from basic IT services to high-tech innovations.

Siebe Riedstra, chair of the Inholland Supervisory Board: "Jet's move to SURF marks the departure of an enthusiastic and inspiring chairperson. Her tireless efforts have helped us raise the quality of Inholland's education and research to a standard we can all take pride in. I wish Jet all the best and hope she enjoys her time at SURF."

Executive Board chair vacancy
Jet's departure has opened up a vacancy on the Executive Board. The Supervisory Board will initiate efforts to recruit a successor after the Christmas holidays in consultation with the Executive Board and the University Representative Advisory Council.
