New coffee machines: more sustainable, faster and more choice

koffieautomaat

At the end of April, Inholland University of Applied Sciences will install new coffee machines. The new machines are more sustainable, faster and offer more choice. You’ll still be able to use your own mug to get coffee and tea for free. New features include being able to choose between oat milk and cow’s milk and two coffee flavours. The coffee machines are also ‘faster’ because of a different boiler technology.

Sustainable and impactful
The new machines offer a choice of two coffee flavours as well as two types of milk (plant-based and animal-based). You’ll also be able to choose from seven new tea flavours (if in stock) as well as cold water on tap. The machines have a longer boiler standby time, so you have to wait less. If you’re a tea drinker, you’ll be able to choose from three different tea water temperatures to match your favourite type of tea.

Coffee aficionados will be able to choose from two options:

  • Sacred Beans, a spicy sustainable coffee (mainly arabica), sourced directly from farmers in East Africa. The Rotterdam-based company also helps young people who, for whatever reason, need a chance to (re)discover their role in society.
  • The mild Puro Compañero from an organically grown arabica/robusta blend.

The Puro tea in the machines is sourced from Sri Lanka. It’s grown in a climate-positive way and Fairtrade as well as organic-certified. As for the plant-based milk, we’ve opted for the gluten-free oat milk from Oat of this World.

Clean drinking water for development projects
As for the water on tap, Maas and Inholland are working with the Made Blue Foundation, which is dedicated to providing clean drinking water for all. For every litre consumed from the machines, the cost of one litre of clean drinking water is donated to development projects. In 2022 and 2023, a total of 220,000 litres was donated – enough to provide 22 children with clean drinking water for 10 years.

We’re looking forward to the new machines and all the innovations this will bring. Will you let us know how you like the new flavours?
