In response to the tightened measures of the government last Monday, Inholland University of Applied Sciences has decided to continue online (remote) education until June 1st. No physical educational activities have taken place at Inholland since March 13th. – these measures are extended.

The decision by the government to prohibit events and gatherings until June 1st caused confusion on what this means for educational activities of universities of applied sciences and universities. Hence, it was decided that we continue with online education, where possible, after April 6th.

“We want to create continuity for our teachers, and provide clarity for our students”, explains President of the Executive Board Jet de Ranitz. “We, like other institutions, have made significant progress in replacing regular education in school buildings with online education. We find it important to, during these exceptional circumstances, give our people the peace and space to expand online education and safeguard its quality. Through this, we can support our students in the continuation of their study program. I am proud of the initiatives taken and creativity shown during this transformation to online education.”

Meanwhile, Inholland University of Applied Sciences – like other other universities of applied sciences and universities – prepares for a situation in which only online education is offered until the end of the academic year 2019-2020. De Ranitz: “Should the corona-measures of the government be eased, we can review at a later stage whether we can allow certain forms of education and examination at the location itself.”

Most Inholland-buildings will remain open for now, but the urgent advice is and remains: work and study from home, and keep your distance. De Ranitz: “if you cannot study or work from home due to lack of facilities, we will not refuse access to the building. However, we do not encourage this, as we follow the guidelines of the RIVM and the directives of the government. Everybody in our buildings needs to keep a physical distance of at least 1,5m.”
