The Creative Business (CRB) domain has entered into an educational partnership with Immersive Tech Week (ITW) Rotterdam, one of the largest Extended Reality (XR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) events in Europe. This offers Creative Business students and colleagues the chance to visit the fair and present their own projects. In addition, students can participate in a hackathon. Participation in the Immersive Tech Week hackathon is open to all students within Inholland. Would you like to participate in it? Sign up before 25 October!

‘Within the Creative Business domain, we want the creative business professionals of the future to use, develop and implement new, emerging technologies and media in a sustainable and ethical way,’ says manager education and research Jannerieke Hommenga. ‘That's what we train our students to do. It is in line with our university of applied sciences’ strategic plan to create positive social impact through education and research.’

Learning XR and AI skills
New, emerging technologies can contribute to positive social impact. They also provide opportunities for creative businesses. At the same time, these new technologies also bring challenges. ‘This is precisely why we want to work together,’ says the festival's director Benjamin de Wit: ’The collaboration with Inholland is essential to ITW's goal of equipping future professionals with practical skills in XR and AI. With hackathons and conferences, we offer students a stage to showcase their talents to industry leaders. In doing so, we encourage innovation and prepare them to shape the future of immersive technologies.’

For colleagues and students
‘The goal of our collaboration? For our students and colleagues to go to ITW so that they obtain inspiration and valuable information,’ says Innovation Manager, Shant Bayramian. ‘Our ultimate aim is that our colleagues return to our community and integrate their knowledge about XR and AI into their teaching practices. With this collaboration, we enable colleagues and students to accelerate education within the fields of XR and AI.’

ITW from 2 to 6 December
The ITW will take place in Rotterdam from Monday 2 to Friday 6 December. A variety of activities will take place that week, including a convention, workshops, a conference, a hackathon and specialized tracks in education, healthcare, arts, creative industries, media, gaming and entertainment.

Free entry and spots for hackathon
Creative Business and ITW have allocated tickets to 100 students and 10 colleagues. Student groups that were finalists in the previous editions of the XR Production Lab in the Creative Business program will get the chance to present their projects in ITW's Creator's Corner. In addition, there are 25 spots for the hackathon open to all students within Inholland.
