Week of the International Student: 13-19 November

Week of the international student 2023

The yearly Week of the International Student is coming up! From 13-17 November several activities are organized at Inholland to celebrate all students with international ambitions. The WotIS is always organized in the week of 17 November: International Students’ Day.

The week was originally initiated by Nuffic (Dutch National Agency for Internationalization in Education), to focus on international students studying in the Netherlands; nowadays, this week is also aimed at Dutch students interested in an international experience abroad.

Why is an international experience important?
At Inholland, we would like our students to gain international experiences in various ways, This can be done by for example doing a study exchange or internship abroad or by participating in international projects, during which they need to cooperate with international students in complex assignments that require an international approach. This will enable them in their future careers to build bridges across barriers between countries and cultures, and thus contribute to a sustainable society.

What’s in it for students
An international experience for students means: broadening your horizon, pushing boundaries, personal growth, creating an international network, strengthening your intercultural and English skills and above all: an unforgettable adventure!

International Students’ well-being
Since COVID-19, student well-being is under pressure, especially international students’ well-being. One of the bottlenecks is the limited social bonding binding. Therefore, it is important to also organise social activities for international students during WotIS.

Activities @ Inholland
During the WotIS the International Office, ESN and SSC are organizing several activities for both our international students studying at Inholland and for Inholland students with international ambitions. For instance, in Haarlem, a Food & Language Café and a Cultural Movie Night are organized (among other activities) and in Diemen international students can join an ESN party. All students with international ambitions can join online inspiration sessions about study and internship/graduation abroad or a general information session about international opportunities at Inholland.

Furthermore, the (Dutch) Inholland Instagram account will be taken over by Inholland students currently abroad for a study exchange or internship: every day, we will get insights into the life of an Inholland student at a different destination in the world!

An overview of all activities and information on how to sign up is published here; the events can also be found on the Iris calender. Please note: the activity overview might be adjusted until the start of the WotIS.
