Students as Partners ‘on the move'
Conditions for shared influence in higher education
Samenvatting
**What happens when students do not just participate in education, but help shape the decisions that shape it?**
Drawing on sixteen different pilot projects, we explored how the relationship between students and staff changes when influence is genuinely shared. Moving beyond individual practices, this collection examines what it takes to make this shift possible and how it can be deepened.
The analysis shows that partnership is not primarily a matter of enthusiasm, but of how it is positioned and embedded. When opportunities to influence decisions are clearly established and supported by strong relationships, conversations, roles and responsibilities begin to change. Students are not the only ones who change; professionals also rethink their roles and positions.
This collection shows:
- why motivation is rarely the main obstacle;
- why creating space for shared decision-making is the real turning point;
- why sustainable partnerships require coherence between relationships, structures and institutional choices.
Partnership is not simply a temporary way of working, but a fundamental rethinking of how education is designed and supported.
For anyone who wants not only to renew education, but also to rethink the relationships on which it is built.
